honestly, after taking a quick browse, everyone is letting #purism off the hook way too easily.
sure, they said they'll re-enable the report feature. but if they decided to remove that because of 'spam reasons',
a. they know about as much about keeping an online space safe and secure as a bodyguard who cheerfully doesn't know what a gun is but can totes guide you in the apocalyptic hellscape
b. they know, but reports could lead to banning their users and thus less $$
c. all of the above
i don't know the ins and outs of open source software dev culture, or even dev culture at all
but i DO know that way too many people are shading big greedy companies for hurting people - especially minorities - by allowing harassment to continue, specifically because it makes that company more money .........while also giving #purism a pass for the same shit as a widdle eensy mistake whoopsiepoo.
do y'all really think a company built on avoiding these ethical issues would slip up by accident?
and at that point - if you're spending money at a company that is not ethical and is trying to pull the same ol' bullshit -
well -
you can do a hell of a lot more value for your money, instead of just pretending a company don't lie. 🤷
