CPAP and fibromyalgia pain
Last night against my better judgement I decided to try my CPAP again and go figure, Iβm in serious agony right now. And even while I was using it I was feeling the weird random breathing problems that CPAP is supposed to stop, feeling this clench in my chest as I fell asleep like my lungs were just Not Working. The sleep doctor insists that I donβt have central apnea but what the fuck is this?

could it be a low-level anxiety thing working against you? honestly i can't tolerate CPAP/APAP at all - it just sets off some deep lizard brings AAAA SMOTHERING panic.
there is the dental appliance solution to sleep apnea too that you may want to ask about. it's basically like wearing a retainer, so there's no stuff to wear on your face. it does make the jaw sore sometimes, but is a thing worth knowing?

@wigglytuffitout I don't have trouble with wearing the APAP itself, I just have trouble with the mask making my nose sore and then loudly blowing air all over my face after I move by an inch in my sleep.
My sleep doctor suggested a mandibular appliance as the next step if a mask fitting doesn't help matters but I don't see how it would help with the particular issue I'm having. Frankly I don't see how APAP helps with it either but I'm still willing to try.

@wigglytuffitout also I have pretty severe bruxism so the mandibular appliance might be either helpful or VERY harmful with that, and given how expensive they are it's only something we're going to try if the mask fitting doesn't help.

@wigglytuffitout sure, and I actually have really good insurance so I don't think it'll cost me much out of pocket.
And I mean I already have a bruxism nightguard, but it's kind of worn down (I've had it for like a decade now?) so if the mandibular appliance does double-duty then that's a bonus anyway. But I don't think my problem is obstructive apnea.
