@wigglytuffitout that's a mood
@wigglytuffitout (like, I legit think all the fun went out of computing, or at least I've never been able to see the newer shit as fun at all)
@Alyx same, tbh
...let's not discuss the i-frame craze that followed the great Side Frame For Navigatio Or No battle. i'm trying to forget the time in my life when i thought 300x500 px was more than enough room to read all content contained within it, with a pastel-colored scroll bar and text at negative fuckyou pixels
@Alyx GOD yeah
i kinda miss when the hotness was a tiny window of content and lush - but STATIC. - window dressing around it
tbh the last time i shopped for something at e.l.f. i got a 'take a survey!' and just went on a screed about how their web designers should feel bad, because the number of clicks and scrolls to get to a thing i clicked to see was absurd. it's like the internet is full of pushy salespeople swarming you, when you just want to look at the shelf
@Alyx GOD honestly valid
i'm just amazed at how many times it's the same people doing the advertising. like, if i click to see the lipsticks, maybe i wanna look at the lipsticks you sell, daggum website, not three clicks later and two full page scrolls down to finally see The Fucking Lipsticks lmao
@wigglytuffitout "it's like the internet is full of pushy salespeople swarming you" ya think? X=3 the internet's really never recovered from not knowing any other way to support itself without nonstop advertising. like, not sure what the answer would have been, maybe it'll take a whole different culture and civilization before it's even possible to have an internet that's not awful
