this is very Cis Girl Looking In From The Outside, but i wish to extend a hand for solidarity fistbump wrt some chat across the fediverse

i think 'typical trans girl fashion' and lolita fashion both share a root, which is why (unsurprisingly) there are a lot of trans women i've seen wearing lolita and interested in it as well - both are "fuck you, i'm a girl", almost to what society might consider "tacky" or "overdone" or "too loud". it is feminine, and screams itself as thus.

both i think have that root also of "god, fuck what i'm SUPPOSED to wear, i am going to wear what makes ME happy". obvsly i know the lolita fashion side here a lot better - it is what some might consider a paradoxically feminist moment, as lolita fashion actually is pretty fucking punk in its sentiments of "i don't care if i'm 'supposed' to be the perfect demure office worker and housewife in sedate modern duds. i'm going to wear what i want to wear, not what society demands i wear."

ok a fistbump is not very on-brand for this interaction uhhh hmm

....in solidarity and understanding, this cis lolita offers out a very ornate gothic choker and this really cute pair of pearl wire kitty ears, to stand side by side with the trans girl fashionistas.

THERE WE GO

CULTURAL EXCHANGE, EVERYBODY

@aradinfinity honestly i am so fucking glad cloaks are coming back in style

...alternatively, that i just now know enough keywords of obscure fashion movements, and where to buy shit overseas, so that i can buy cloaks lol

if you ever want to pick up more cloaks, aliexpress has actually come through for me real solidly. i'm mad the weather changed before i got to wear my elegant crane-embroidered one. (COME BACK, WINTER! I GOT CUTE SHIT TO WEAR....)

@aradinfinity ooooh, i have an older one in my closet like that - it's full-length though

the two i got from aliexpress are both lined in like... they called it soft fleece, but it's more like faux fur. but the really nice faux fur, kinda like minky fabric but a longer fiber length. so like a good stuffed animal that needs a haircut LOL. they're both cute as fuck, but if i wore them out in the 95 degree weather i would Instantly Die i'm sure LMAO

@aradinfinity (so for now i settle for........ really cute umbellas and parasols.....)

@aradinfinity ok, yeah, seattle would be a big barrier there LOL. at least there are cute hat options out there as well!! for some reason as soon as the weather turned warm my fashion senses decided they wanted nothing more than a big straw hat with lace trim, so that i can go frolic in the fields wearing it picking daisies

....then i remember i live in georgia and it's miserable out there.

but i still want the hat 😂

@aradinfinity ooooh, those are infinitely practical and very elegant! extremely good sun-hats :>

maybe i should try one - my usual problem is my head is too big LOL

@aradinfinity tho i admit there is one type of cloak that if you ever see, please totally toss a link in my face

i could really use a cloak that's light and waterproof - the equivalent of a really light rain jacket. but one that's styled like a cloak, not a horrid poncho.

(i keep seeing that iridescent plastic fabric that all the instagram cool kids have jackets made out of and going "yes.... that... but a cloak...")
