@Gargron I'm about ready to go back to Twitter. Content deemed NSFW randomly decides to not load. The images are black screen & vids produce a pop-up informing my "cannot play video". My Wi-Fi signal is strong and there's nothing wrong with my phone or laptop. So WHY?
Duckduckgo, Startpage, Google none of the search engines show any information about a central hub to ask questions, alert devs to problems, to communicate!

@diehardninja if you go to your instance's page - kinkyelephant.com - you will find the person who you need to contact about having such problems specifically listed as administrator.

due to its nature, there is no One Dude To Email If You're Having Problems On Mastodon - as you yourself are not really on mastodon, but one of the many little clusters that compile this social network. and you are on the kinkyelephant.com cluster, where you signed up :)

@wigglytuffitout So I go to an internet browser to type in kinkyelephant.com and search to find the admin/support there?
I understand the concept that basically every community is running their own version of Mastodon, called instances. As a member of other instances, I noticed these are all built upon the same framework. So when I'm asking rudimentary questions like, "How do I DM someone?" it seems most helpful to be able to ask a central hub, kinda like a nube center.

@diehardninja complicating this significantly is that actually they're not built on the same framework - some run pleroma, some run different forks of mastodon which may place superficial things like how to DM someone in different places, under different menus, etc. when i started my account, i was taken to a 'getting started' page that helpfully guided me through these things. you should ask the administrator of your instance if there is something similar for you.

@diehardninja by its very nature, there is *never* going to be a central hub on mastodon. that is *the point* of mastodon - to be decentralized. :) if you're advocating for it to be so, i'm afraid you're going to come up empty. however, you can ask your instance administrator, the person who oversees kinkyelephant.com, if they can implement a 'newbie guide' of some type. :)
