My biggest problem with shorter hair cuts is that I have a shitty weak jawline. If I could grow sideburns, I could correct for it a bit that way, but alas. I cannot.
Also, I like having hair over my forehead, because I don't like my hairline. And I don't like hair that's going to poke my eyes or eyebrows.
So far my approach has been hair that's long enough to go to about jaw-length in the front, but this is possibly not ideal.
@InspectorCaracal i admit i don't know much and this is a rather femme hairstyle, but maybe something related to a blunt bob? personally i think the straight sides and cut can kinda reinforce the jawline and make it have more oomph, though cutting it short enough to give that effect and frame cheekbones is also popular
@InspectorCaracal yeeeeahhh i think even with an undercut in place, it's just too femme for you - but it does read distinctly more modern/queer (as in first pic) when styled to show off the undercut
it means putting your jawline out there, but maybe consider a choppy pixie undercut? i feel like the undercut also brings structure to the jawbone that gives it some oomph, probably by sort of extending that line on up into the hair, and you can get much more not-straight-femme
(cw for eye contact)
@InspectorCaracal the undercut does give more room to play in basically, though it has higher upkeep/maintenance
lines/designs in it, or keeping it even shorter and going faux-mohawk if you feel like it, which can read very much more masculine
(at the very least it's often good chaff to confuse gender-radars so to speak. i'm very full of medicine and that's the best analogy i got lmfao)
@wigglytuffitout .... I wonder what my current hair would look like if I just buzzed the bottom half. *does some searches*
@wigglytuffitout I was super exasperated with Every Character Having Undercuts for a while but I'm actually kinda digging some of these takes on it. hmmmm.
