i actually really think young adult lit is great for getting kids invested in the very ideas and used to seeing them. none of the series i can think of are exactly fucking subtle about it, which makes it a lot easier to spot and point out the concept on many levels.

i mean it's not like you can fucking miss the "so, let's talk about how sometimes in western lit a character is supposed to represent Jesus Christ" when it's Aslan all over narnia
