meta meta
can we not go about making contextless meta posts where it isn't even clear that the post was actually brought about by something happening? eventually you travel far enough where people have no idea that anything happened, and it looks like you're just making a general meta post rather than responding to something
i think we could all do better. probably including this exact post, ironically
meta meta
@trwnh ironically, i think this has developed as a habit to discuss things without accusations of "but you're harassing someone by talking about them and what they did wrong specifically", and being more pointed often ends up creating a much larger conflagration of anger aiming to stifle discussion of the actual problem, especially when evidence of bad behavior is called out as... screenshot dunking.

@wigglytuffitout i think there's also a bit of mixup of "dunk", "callout", and "receipt"
- receipts are good
- callouts should be used sparingly, when prior reporting/private intervention didn't work
- dunks should never be done
and the three should never be confused. like, what you described is a callout with receipts. which should be fine if there aren't better or more effective courses of action
meta meta but maybe context
@trwnh HONESTLY lol, it's a stunning moderation fail. the "you didn't even send in a report, oh wait hold on i just found where i missed the report" is the cherry on top of this ridiculous sundae
meta meta but maybe context
@wigglytuffitout also i think i found the context so uh
maybe take it less personally when it's one of your users being called out, just say "thanks theyre suspended, sorry you had to deal with this" and move on?
