in which a wigglytuff questions the reasons behind something being in poor taste, not doubting that it's in poor taste however

wait hold on i thought "drank the kool-aid" is in poor taste because it's referencing the Heaven's Gate cult and their ritual mass suicide via poisoned beverages, how is it racist

re: in which a wigglytuff questions the reasons behind something being in poor taste, not doubting that it's in poor taste however

@wigglytuffitout ...my guess is that people don't know about the mass suicide and racistly think that a cheap beverage must be about Black People and thus is racist

re: in which a wigglytuff questions the reasons behind something being in poor taste, not doubting that it's in poor taste however

@wigglytuffitout it's amazing how some of the things white people in particular declaim as Racist so beautifully unveil their own particular racism

re: in which a wigglytuff questions the reasons behind something being in poor taste, not doubting that it's in poor taste however

@InspectorCaracal there is definitely a koolaid racist thing going on as well so i don't know if they've intersected now or not? it could very well be racist as well somehow i don't know yet

re: in which a wigglytuff questions the reasons behind something being in poor taste, not doubting that it's in poor taste however

@wigglytuffitout ah, hm, then I don't know

re: in which a wigglytuff questions the reasons behind something being in poor taste, not doubting that it's in poor taste however

@wigglytuffitout all I know is that I'm having flashbacks to people saying that Honey Boo-Boo was racist for appropriating The Way Black People Speak for humor

re: in which a wigglytuff questions the reasons behind something being in poor taste, not doubting that it's in poor taste however

@wigglytuffitout (if there's another koolaid thing that's actually racist then I'm not sure if I want to know it tbh >.<)

re: in which a wigglytuff questions the reasons behind something being in poor taste, not doubting that it's in poor taste however

@InspectorCaracal i think it's more in the constellation of "stereotypical black drinks", eventually on up to "purple drank" - a bit of the 'fried chicken and watermelon' vein of thing?

i'll be honest i'm not sure of the exact particulars but this is mostly because i'm really blithely stupid about stereotypes at the best of times

@wigglytuffitout close, it wasn’t heaven’s gate, it was jonestown.

@zensaiyuki ah there we go, jonestown

i don't know me cults very well

(probably kind of a good thing in the end)

@wigglytuffitout i guess you could argue it’s in poor taste because the koolaide was mainly for killing the children so they wouldn’t be “converted to fascism”,
also the koolaide tasted bad.
