gosh i need to play shadowrun hong kong but i keep running up against the fact that i am bad at video games

@SinaCutie whelp, i guess then that's a lesson about what phrases you meant to be abrasive, including those indicating childishness like " like "mommy-daddy-take-care-of-me", are taken. and how if you set out to be abrasive, sometimes you end up being taken as abrasive, leading people to "get hung up on your words" and skip over your deeper meaning. i know it's frustrating, but sometimes if you aim to be combative in communication, you end up being taken as combative. /shrug.

well i was going to get up but now my dog's come and sat on me so i'm trapped forever

@SinaCutie so, it's not mocking, you just used abrasive language to compare them to whiny children and dismiss that concern/people seeking that feature as childish?

well, as i said, interesting take, and a stance you can certainly align yourself with. you may also have to accept that in intentionally using abrasive language for it, people will take the abrasive language, well, abrasively.

c'est la vie, and all that jazz.

@SinaCutie that's a valid critique that they can go elsewhere, but why characterize someone wanting server blocks in place as so childish?

it's someone wanting a level of curation that your server doesn't offer, not someone who needs to be mocked as wanting mommy and daddy to do all the work for them - especially when you ended up throwing everyone who wants server blocks in place in their social space as just having childish feels to be catered to.

@SinaCutie that's an... interesting take, equating the desire for a fedi server that, say, blocks obvious bad actors as a purely childish impulse of "mommy-daddy-take-care-of-me feels" needing to be 'catered to', and thus beneath you.

commendable to wear it on your sleeve i suppose, but i'm also not sure why you're shocked at this exercise in libertarian server management may be unpopular.

@eightbitsamurai@elekk.xyz this is going to be an answer to this question so stereotypical and emblematic i might as well pin it as a justified self-callout:

luke skywalker.

..........i think actually meat provides the nutrients so you wouldn't die of beriberi, but out of all the nutritional deficiencies i feel like beriberi definitely has the greatest comedy potential in its name (as scurvy is more associated with pirates and thus muddies the punchline, etc.)

but then again peterson also touts his diet of only water, beef, and salt, like literally that's it nothing else not even pepper, so uh

boy howdy the man's a dumbass

can't wait until he and all his loyal copycat followers keel over of beriberi or some shit

and i say this as somebody who is actually pretty fond of jungian analysis in some respects

but

jung didn't really come up with serious psychology, the same way the humoral system of medicine tried and failed to make, well, medical science

it's some fantastic things for literary critique but to use it as psych makes as much sense as using campbell's hero's journey as a method for treating your ADHD. it just don't work lol

Show thread

honestly all you really need to know about jordan peterson's intelligence is that he thinks Jung is still psychology

in which a wigglytuff is full of gross tmi whining

one of the worst things about being extra chunky is just the clots get. stuck.

there is one that's just sitting there being itchy but i don't actually want to go spelunking for the fucking thing and end up with blood to my elbow

not to mention all the clots that are all "oh look, a clitoral hood! my new home! i'm going to sit here and be irritating...forever!"

@eightbitsamurai@elekk.xyz well, at least the roasting is likely to end up delicious

slow progress in vidya gaems bc my dog keeps shoving her face in between my hand and the controller

and let's be honest

"bluh bluhb dovakiin bluh bluh stereotypical ominous chanting" <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< any song on bastion's OST, but especially : youtube.com/watch?v=t8cELTdtw6 🎵 i dig my hole, you build a wall 🎵

Show thread

honestly, despite the fact that i'm sitting here with skyrim going on my switch, bastion is an amazingly better game than skyrim and will be every day

skyrim is sort of like popcorn. you can spend a lot of time eating it but it just sort of disappears and is gone from your mind so quickly. i've never really felt skyrim as something that was particularly unique or groundbreaking to me.

but bastion... BASTION......

gaming opinion that should not be controversial yet might be:

all the adulation/reverence/remembering that skyrim's bland themesong gets should instead be rightly spent on the ost from bastion, which is unique and genuinely a thousand times better

i WILL fight you on this
