I’m curious to hear from those with #adhd about obsessive rule-making for ourselves. Is this typical? I tend towards the dysfunctional side: walking through my day, thinking about the little rules I (supposedly will) follow in order to be functional at last, unless I obsess about something else. I don’t normally follow through, and I feel like shit. I have managed to make habits of 1 or 2 things; it’s not a complete failure.

My rule-making is in overdrive with my new house. Thus, the request.

@Fritillaria2 oooooh yes, this can be a big problem for me at times. I've never associated it with my adhd, though that makes sense.

Usually, if I'm going to do something, I MUST do it in a very specific way, or it feels like it's not worth it at all. I tell myself my rules are the "best" way to do the thing, ie most efficient or whatever, but I am so obsessive abt them...

As a result, it's hard for me to adapt and "roll with the punches," so to speak.
