@kiilas OOOoooo this probably isn't too helpful because I don't get on well with simulationist games in general, I prefer more arcadey fare, but I had a blast with F-29 Retaliator (Amiga/DOS) when I was younger. I used to play that a LOT, mostly because it was easy to jump into, not super simulationist and I loved the low poly look, but if I wanted something more simmy, my game of choice was either X-wing or TIE-Fighter. I never gelled much with the modern military or historical military ones.

@Nine @kiilas Retaliator was the shit. I played that on like a 286 and it ran great; idk what kind of black magic they did to make it work

@aeonofdiscord @kiilas I mean it was able to run on the Atari ST as well as the Amiga and DOS back in 1990 apparently, and (I didn't know this) also one of the old NEC computers and the FM Towns in japan. It was pretty low spec to begin with but it ran like silk even on low end hardware for the day. Granted it was a relatively small map and untextured, low poly graphics. Lots of dithering for colours, but they really managed to get the feel right and it was visually quite impressive.
