@fonecokid This one gets talked about on both the left and right pretty commonly. The degree of separation talked about varies from person to person, but the general idea that there should be functionally "two Americas with two different sets of laws" is becoming increasingly popular.

Left wing and Right wing people are increasingly segregating themselves by state, so even if there isn't a secession on a federal level, it may well be that soon the laws in heavily right-wing states look very different from laws in heavily left-wing states, as opposed to today's "yeah the laws are more or less uniform, with minor exceptions such as marijuana/abortion/taxation laws."

If the federal government had maintained it's intended scope, each state would effectively be it's own country by today's standards.

But only within the framework established by the Constitution - which is pretty specific about many things.

@ScottSoCal @Reluctant_Weeb @fonecokid And that's entirely fine - each state would still look a lot more like "a different country" than it does now, with wildly different rules and wildly different cultures. There'd be a whole lot less homogenization, and that's really what people want: people want to be in a spot where they're with like minded people and follow rules that they believe in. That's why people are moving states so much nowadays.
