Growing up, Spock and Data were real role models for me. I admit, one big takeaway from both was that one could be successful and a very respected person without emotions. Spock suppressed them and Data didn't even have them at all. And it helped me a lot. Suppressing emotions was often my solution for any bad feelings. And it still is.

@morothar I was enthralled with Spock when I saw him at age 12. I've always thought my emotions are so strong that I must keep tight control on them. I've never wanted to be seen or stand out, so controlling my emotions prevents me from having meltdowns.

I seethe internally and obsess my way though scenarios. I emerge with what is arguably the "best", "adult" way of dealing with it, usually with a plan to ensure the situation never happens again. Invisible shutdowns.
