I think because TapBots apps have always had a reliable amount of polish. And they (were) a big player in the Twitter app game, so them getting into Mastodon helps it expand its reach and use.

@jake @hergaiety I agree with Jake’s points, and also it is almost a 1:1 UI copy of their now defunct Twitter app, Tweetbot. I didn’t use that, but many power users did, and the comfort derived from the similarity in UIs is a big deal
@aquinton @jake @hergaiety I’ll throw in that for me, super reliable timeline syncing is awesome, and that’s something Tapbots does better than anything else I’ve tried.
