So, Jack wants to defederate twitter. Obviously, a lot of our first thoughts is "Isn't that basically just reinventing activitypub?" But do we really want twitter to use activitypub? Like, a lot of people link to twitter for interesting stuff put there. If twitter used activitypub, a lot of existing instances would defederate immediately. Wouldn't that hinder the ability to use those links, or do I not know how mastodon administration works?

@auravulpes direct links to stuff would still work, if twitter did use activitypub then nothing would really change our side
