(continued) ... being otherkin is a personal thing which doesn't need to be shared or understood by others. Other people thinking it's dumb doesn't make me more or less an elf. It doesn't affect me in any way. The only real downside, if in 10 years the term does get diluted to mean people who roleplay being wolves or whatever, is that it will make it harder to find others like myself.
@celyandil that is honestly my main concern as well, is how difficult it’s becoming to find others that are similar. as well as the fact that “‘kin” is really the only term to properly describe my experiences, and i would prefer not having that term taken from me
