@danishcookies
Sorry, to break the big gay narrative about being just like straights, just with a teeny difference, but...

Actually, not really. That's all about access to privilege under capitalism, which doesn't happen without identifying someone else to exploit in your place and I knew from my first Ursula K. LeGuin novel that I wasn't the sort of person who could do that

@AceNovo
What really bothers me is that these "true lgbt" people think that the moment they ought to check their privileges to other queer identities it's somehow an attack on their own.

@danishcookies
I celebrated the marriage equality decision by creating this sceptical baby meme that asks whether the kind of "activism" that got us there is how we want to deal with issues affecting those more vulnerable

negativity

@danishcookies I don't think I've been able to identify a single positive side to being asexual. You feel alienated (even in LGBT spaces, and *especially* in furry ones), relationships are much more difficult, and the support community seems essentially nonexistent.

This is why I've never been able to have any pride for being queer. It's a curse that's done nothing but make my life worse.

@NovaSquirrel
Don't let reactionaries make you feel shame. Gatekeepers are the bane of communities and they need to be purged.

negativity

@danishcookies I don't run into gatekeepers, but they're not necessary at all for making you feel like you don't belong when you can't relate to anyone already and the people around you don't care about being considerate.

@NovaSquirrel
I figure. Those who stay silent in the face of oppression is also accomplices.

acephobia

@danishcookies I'm in the club of "did not tell therapists i was asexual because i was afraid they'd focus on it as a problem instead of my actual problems, because of past bad experiences with disclosing to people in authority positions"
