can't decide whether to keep this thing notes.12bit.club/ as a mediawiki or migrate it to something more lightweight/custom like what i have at repo.12bit.club/

its just a place where i post pics and info about random consoles i have & that shouldn't really need all the overhead of a full ass collaborative wiki software but i do find many of its features useful even for that purpose

I guess maybe I'll keep it as is??? because my other choices are either adding a bunch of extra functionality to the 12bit repo software Or finding something else entirely to run it on and neither of those seem that attractive at the moment. idk

i should probably at least create a more definitive separation between this being for consoles and 12bit repo being for carts though

I think I'm gonna at least a) yes definitively make the one thing for consoles and the other thing for carts and b) rename "12bit notepad" because it really isn't just a thing for notes anymore -
I was thinking "12bit museum" because I think that encapsulates it pretty nicely as being a place to showcase & document my collection with supplementary info rather than anything aimed at being a comprehensive resource.
I am bad at naming though so I'm open to suggestions

well the rebrand is underway......
I've changed the name, logo, subdomain, and rewritten the intro page museum.12bit.club

other things i might do short-term i guess?

* set up SSL on it? i barely even remember how i did that on the other domains but god if browsers these days don't make you feel like a dickhead if you don't have it

* might get rid of Semantic MediaWiki cos its a big heavy extension that I really only used to generate some lists & tbh I can do that by hand (I thought there would be a LOT more lists)

The Semantic MediaWiki thing tbh is also a holdover from an old idea I had to do a big comprehensive database of plug n play consoles with the games that are on them all cross referenced to each other, that idea went through multiple iterations before being flushed down the crapper but I did still end up installing that "what if wiki but also database" extension into my notes wiki even if its utility ended up being reduced to a fancy list generator in the end

honestly think the plug n play db idea was still a good one but let's face it I'm just not the person to see it through

@mavica_again tbh there's not much to help with at this point, I abandoned the idea probably 10 years ago so it'd be practically starting over & I don't really have it in me to commit to that rn. sorry

@lion if there's anything i can do to help. if you wanna send me the devices themselves to document, i think i could have some fun doing that. but no pressure

Follow

@mavica_again I mean yeah if you wanted to help out with documenting stuff for the current museum wiki thing you probably could! I'll message you when I've had some sleep

Sorry I thought you were asking about the plug n play db thing specifically which was a separate much deader project
I probably didn't explain my shit very well

@lion oh no i did mean the plug n play db!! but if you have other tat you want me to look at i'd be happy to as well
