worldbuilding, religion [1]

I feel like I'm becoming more nuanced with my worldbuilding, but it's also becoming harder and harder to make decisions.

One of the things I'm working on is the religious practices of the culture, and in trying to make it more interesting I decided that the Yóoŋwẹ people would actually have 2 primary religions.

One is endemic, and based on sacred places.

The second is from a historical diaspora from a different culture, and is based on ancestor* veneration.

worldbuilding, religion [2]

unlike European (Christian) understanding of religion however, these religions are not actually exclusive - there are many members of society who practice both.

In addition, I'm trying to make it so that both religions prioritise ritual actions over belief - it doesn't matter so much if you believe in something, just that you do the things you are supposed to do.

And this is all interesting and fun! But way more time consuming than my previous worldbuilding projects.
