discussion of transphobic jokes

several people have recommended I watch a particular australian comedy troupe, but every single video I've been linked has a "man in a dress" joke

and it's so fucking upsetting because the other jokes are good...

discussion of transphobic jokes

@lizardsquid that's a shame - we have some terrific comedy groups.

discussion of transphobic jokes

@Cybertrash do you have any favourites?

discussion of transphobic jokes

@lizardsquid Sammy J and Randy are wonderful. I enjoyed Josh Thomas's Please Like Me, and the obvious other choices are the Umbilical Brothers (who did the wonderful Upside Down Show) and Lano and Woodley, who do clowning and slapstick. I guess most of these are mainstream? I mean all four got TV series...

discussion of transphobic jokes

@Cybertrash oh I've seen the umbilical brothers, they're really good

I didn't like sammy J that much, but that was just a personal thing

and I really wanted to see "Please Like Me", but my parents are homophobic and I'm still living with them

discussion of transphobic jokes

@lizardsquid well if you liked the Umbilical Brother I think Lano And Woodley are a good choice if you haven't looked at them.

That's honestly a real shame. I mean I think I remember exactly one transphobic joke and the guy gets punched in the face for it.

discussion of transphobic jokes

@Cybertrash oh it wasn't a specific thing, it was just not the kind of comedy I can focus on (because I have attention issues)

discussion of transphobic jokes

@lizardsquid I was referring to please like me but funnily enough Sammy J and Randy worked well for me and my ADD because of the pacing.

discussion of transphobic jokes

@Cybertrash oh right! I got confused, sorry
