XML?? discourse??

i don't really get the argument that X(HT)ML isn't accessible tbh when the tools to write it come preinstalled on literally every computer, it's an old format with *extensive* documentation, and it's literally just text

and the people bemoaning it are often the same people who use Vim or say that GUIs or mice are bad and spoil people lol like choose a side if you're going to be that way

XML?? discourse??

like i can learn how to write XML faster than i can learn how to write in word and i know this because i still don't know how the fuck to write in word

XML?? discourse??

i think there's this idea in modern discourse that it is better to build a software that artificially limits people's ability than it is to build a software that teaches them how to do more and greater things

like

giving your users the ability to learn and do more and grow isn't a bad thing

it's not bad to have a software that contains learning opportunities imo

XML?? discourse??

or in shorter words i think the distinction between "technical" and "non-technical" users is bullshit and that exposing users to the data structures that *they are creating* and *giving them control over the creation of those structures* is actually an ethical responsibility?? and personally i think that XML is a really good and accessible framework for doing this for a lot of applications.

@kibi yes!

stop pretending that computing people are the only people who can handle formats like xml!
