@masklayer It's so frustrating that the extent of e-ink has essentially been "something you have to buy digital books from Amazon to use and a few gimmick watches".

@lizardsquid @masklayer It *is* better for a lot of applications (certain types of signage, and inexpensive touchscreen phones come to mind) but so far it's only really been used as a replacement for passive black-and-white LCDs. It's so puzzling.

@masklayer @lizardsquid I imagine a lot of that has to do with marketing and the aesthetics of technology, though. People want (or are imagined to want) futuristic-looking stuff, not practicality, so that's where the focus goes. See: irritating blue/white status LEDs instead of red/amber ones because those were newer.
