Today I learned that Americans call the main course the "entrée"

What?!?

@Felthry in the rest of the world, "entrée" means a starter dish, never the main dish

@kellerfuchs @lizardsquid well yeah I know it's French. I never knew that it was called something else elsewhere though

@kellerfuchs @Felthry @lizardsquid This confused me too when I found out about it! I don't speak French, but entrée meaning starter has made its way into British English as a loanword, albeit an uncommon one.
