my opinion on unity
one of my good friends was talking about how we shouldn't say unity is a bad program becuase of how it's used to make low quality games
and I agree!
but I personally find the editor really difficult to use - and some level designers agree with me: it's hard to make things line up, it's difficult to construct spaces, it's time consuming to prototype ideas, and so on
here's a video that compares the major level editors:
my opinion on unity
@SilviaFox as an engine, unity is great!
I just think the editor is naff - and you can see it in the lower quality games people make: it's incredibly, INCREDIBLY difficult to make certain things in it, which is why a lot of unity games have the same kind of hilly, open, outdoors environments
my opinion on unity
@lizardsquid @SilviaFox they actually seem to know that nowadays! they bought probuilder, which was a nice tool to make levels without having to open up a modelling app
and it's now free for all unity users, hopefully they'll just fully integrate it into the editor and give it a nice and easy to use UI ;;
unity really doesn't deserve the hate it gets, the only big issue is PS4 performance maybe, and they're fixing (or have fixed?) that
my opinion on unity
@lizardsquid
Unity is accessible, dynamic, and powerful
I will never not advocate for it tbh
