my bank, last week: hey, we're taking down our online banking options for an IT upgrade this weekend
now, my bank was split off from another bank because it got too large, but all the customer data was still with the original bank and the new bank just rented access to the old systems
the "IT upgrade" was actually "we're going to transfer every single bit of customer data from old bank to new bank all at once rather than in small batches"
naturally, this has been a disaster

it went up briefly yesterday, with users who could get in briefly able to access other people's info, before being taken down again
currently in "limited access" mode, which still means pretty much no one can get in
i'm pretty reliant on the online banking even during standard weeks (local branch is closed Saturdays, branch near work is too far away to go during lunch)
even more so when i physically can't get there.
