people get uppity about how mastodon's "DMs" are "unencrypted" and "can be seen by any admin" when
- no other social media did any different, this is just how it is in a decentralized version of that
- mastodon as a company (hello eugen) could do more to explain that this controls visibility only, which "direct/private message" from learned experience implies otherwise
- the whole fucking activitypub spec is a fucking mess anyway we're all just in for the ride
if you ask me "how do we fix mastodon/activitypub/the "fediverse"" my answer is "social media is a mistake from conception"
