i just don't think that web browsers should be the same program you access USB ports with or write local programs in
this has been a message against Google's lobbying for "web standards" that have actively made software worse in the past decade
I can't wait for WebTCP so you can browse the web in a web browser
@gloriouscow i once saw a revolutionary framework which promised "html over the wire" and i felt like the only sane character trope yelling at the screen that they just reinvented iframes
@mavica_again @gloriouscow you mean fucking Hotwire right
@mavica_again what, you mean your REST api doesn't return JSON-encoded HTML?
@mavica_again not even explaining how this is a tool to let centralized servers take over your local hardware (thermostat, TV, radio, lights)
@mavica_again I really hate how many microcontroller flasher tools go for "put it in the browser" instead of cross-platform tooling. Like I kind of get it but maybe the solution for your "easy crossplatform GUI" is make a simple thing run on your PC that's built only to do what's needed and communicate with the webpage? idk. fuck.
the solution is not for firefox to support web usb api the solution is for people to stop using web usb api
