giving serious thought to moving out of London again

for a bit of context - I'm from somewhere near Manchester, moved to London 15 years ago for work & have stayed here ever since. Now my work is remote so I can live anywhere. And I've saved enough for a deposit on a house but definitely not a London house. So I probably want to fuck back off up north

Manchester is great but it's getting expensive these days... also all my family lives around there and I'm sorry I love them but I don't want to be TOO close
i haven't ruled Manchester out anyway but i'm casting my net out to other northern places, this is why I visited Leeds and Liverpool last year

I really liked both Leeds and Liverpool city centres themselves but I think Liverpool edges it in terms of like, decent areas to actually live in with affordable houses
The immediate outskirts of Leeds seem to have not much going on & while there are good places further out they seem to be expensive

BUT. However. I do have a secret weapon which I'm giving more consideration to lately and that is the great city of Kingston upon Hull
It's where I went to uni & despite its bad rep it DOES have nice bits, I know where they are, and houses are very cheap
So I could do it.. I could go back to Hull..
