@squirrel I've been getting pretty decent behavior out of gdm3. Not sure if you're a "all gnome" kind of squirrel, or how well (or if) it works un-bundled from the rest of the gnome suite though.
@devlogic honestly i have a very vague grasp of what parts of my system are even gnome. i'm using mate and apparently that's gtk? idk. i just want a login screen that works
