realizing all of my stuff at home is going offline because there's a power outage while i'm away is making me wonder something

what if i cobble together a router UPS (server is already battery-powered laptop)

would a regular phone power bank outputting to a 5-to-9v boost converter work or am i being silly

(i do not want a bulky 110v ac ups)

@squirrel I don't see any obvious reason it wouldn't work

Assuming the powerbank lets you use it while you're charging it, otherwise you might need to add a bit more circuitry

@squirrel ooh, if you wanted to get really fancy with it and add a few bits of circuit you could add a solar panel in there!

solar and/or mains charges the power bank and then the power bank runs the routers!

SOLAR POWERED BUN-NET

@troubleMoney i'd do that if i could put it in a good place to get sunlight :(

but it's really just meant to be a router UPS

Follow

@squirrel ah yeah, the sun can be really inconvenient like that
