@wigglytuffitout my guess is that if the building is unrecoverable, they'll build a tribute cathedral with modern methods in the old architectural style.

@Anarkat fortunately i just read about the work of Prof. Andrew Tallon, so if it is a complete rebuild, there is a lot of very good data to go off - https://news.nationalgeographic.com/2015/06/150622-andrew-tallon-notre-dame-cathedral-laser-scan-art-history-medieval-gothic/
and fortunately i suppose the stained glass, being the main draw, will be thoroughly documented with pictures etc. given the number of coffee table books on that subject

@wigglytuffitout I'm just imagining a team of glassblowers all studying from books with titles like "205 AMAZING examples of stained glass throughout history"
