honestly, after taking a quick browse, everyone is letting #purism off the hook way too easily.
sure, they said they'll re-enable the report feature. but if they decided to remove that because of 'spam reasons',
a. they know about as much about keeping an online space safe and secure as a bodyguard who cheerfully doesn't know what a gun is but can totes guide you in the apocalyptic hellscape
b. they know, but reports could lead to banning their users and thus less $$
c. all of the above
more telling to me is that @Purism has not said a peep about this on the public, forward-facing account for the project - not even a "hey, if you blocked us for this, very sorry! we've fixed it! please unblock us now!", which would be a very politic move.
instead there's just glowing praise and mentions of ethics... ethics...
isn't part of ethical behavior acknowledging when you fucked it up and apologising for it?
is rugsweeping for profit #purism ethics?
and at that point - if you're spending money at a company that is not ethical and is trying to pull the same ol' bullshit -
well -
you can do a hell of a lot more value for your money, instead of just pretending a company don't lie. 🤷
