this is very Cis Girl Looking In From The Outside, but i wish to extend a hand for solidarity fistbump wrt some chat across the fediverse
i think 'typical trans girl fashion' and lolita fashion both share a root, which is why (unsurprisingly) there are a lot of trans women i've seen wearing lolita and interested in it as well - both are "fuck you, i'm a girl", almost to what society might consider "tacky" or "overdone" or "too loud". it is feminine, and screams itself as thus.
both i think have that root also of "god, fuck what i'm SUPPOSED to wear, i am going to wear what makes ME happy". obvsly i know the lolita fashion side here a lot better - it is what some might consider a paradoxically feminist moment, as lolita fashion actually is pretty fucking punk in its sentiments of "i don't care if i'm 'supposed' to be the perfect demure office worker and housewife in sedate modern duds. i'm going to wear what i want to wear, not what society demands i wear."
@aradinfinity tho i admit there is one type of cloak that if you ever see, please totally toss a link in my face
i could really use a cloak that's light and waterproof - the equivalent of a really light rain jacket. but one that's styled like a cloak, not a horrid poncho.
(i keep seeing that iridescent plastic fabric that all the instagram cool kids have jackets made out of and going "yes.... that... but a cloak...")
