@blythespirit @kara_dreamer@plural.cafe *grins* somehow I guessed that one

@lambdagrrl yah. like, I think a specific electrode for estradiol is something that can be made

sheesh how would _I_ measure Planck's constant? I dunno

maybe measure radiation "pressure"?

re: home steroid hormone monitoring

@kara_dreamer@plural.cafe and how do we test it? bleh

we might need to bite the bullet and pay for bespoke equipment

home steroid hormone monitoring

this has gotta be achievable. tell you what I'm imagining

you prick your finger like you're doing a blood test for glucose, and you just dab the blood on some machine's sensor pad and you get estimates of estradiol and estrone and testosterone and so forth

or, lower-tech, semiquantitative analysis: you get some kind of color reaction and you compare colors to a chart, like you're using a pee strip

how does that strike people?

re: on making injectable estradiol

@kara_dreamer@plural.cafe @foxwitch@queer.af we gotta work on home serum hormone monitoring! working on drug delivery is useless without a way to measure whether it's working better than "oh I feel better"

on making injectable estradiol

@foxwitch@queer.af @kara_dreamer@plural.cafe so Kara used to know this really fearsome and angry trans woman chemist on Twitter who was super smart and wanting to work on a plan to turn estradiol pills into estradiol valerate in peanut oil suitable for injection. it's a lot of work. so many technical challenges to make a _safe_ product

maybe we should look into it ourselves. it's beyond our ability but maybe someone else can do the thing

@foxwitch@queer.af @kara_dreamer@plural.cafe exactly! like...I ain't saying why I want boxes full of estradiol vials >_> but, ya know, it'd be useful

Not all cults are religious

@drifa

Right on. During the past few years, I've been doing a little reading about cults, since I wanted to learn if it was possible to stop one's self from falling for a cult. After I'd learned about the red flags and manipulative tactics of cults, I noticed that a lot of secular organizations use them, just the same. I was so creeped out when I realized that training videos for a minimum wage job have a lot of the red flags of cult indoctrination, making sure that workers stay obedient, fearful, ignorant, and don't unionize for their rights.

there totally has to be some trick that'll allow us to get estradiol valerate injection bottles by the crate

bleh we are terrible at using what Kara calls "liminal times" usefully

Evangelion and mother feels

hah Kara's asking her girlfriend (who is a huuuuge Eva fan) about shopping for an Eva-02 figure as a sort of symbolic representation of our "biological" mom

like...we fucking hated her. there's no two ways about it. because she could never bond with us. we've got ideas about why it happened that way...she was in a lot of pain

but she did try to protect us and teach us as best she could

kinda like Eva-02, really...

Not all cults are religious

I used to hear the stories of people who’d come out of cults (as typically defined in our media) and think ‘wow, what a unique life experience.’

I now (partly, mostly, or nearly completely) out of heteronormativity, cisnormativity, liberalism, American exceptionalism, capitalism, rationalism, and scientism and that’s just the cults I can think of off the top of my head. So many of us are survivors, it would seem.

pretty good Asuka Langley fanart. (kinda hate the tendency to turn her into total fanwank material, yanno)

(I mean, sometimes...web pages do whatever the frig they want don't they, these days)
