A curious CC-0 Wikimedia picture inspires one of the best ramen bowls I've had on the blog to date.

"High functioning" and "low functioning" aren't imprecise labels.
They're pathology-paradigm labels - and I reject the paradigm, not just the wording.
There's no such thing as a high or low functioning autistic person.
There are autistic people whose support needs are visible, and autistic people whose support needs get ignored.
The labels don't describe us.
They sort us - by how useful we look to others.
Refuse the sorting.
All of it.
"Why Young Women Aren’t Ashamed Of Disability Anymore"
I tried to come up with a short, pithy thing to say about this, but honestly, I don't want to summarize this. It's worth reading & thinking about.
It is important to remember that trauma is complicated, and there are different responses to it. I have seen people get attacked for not reacting "enough" to something going bad. You can't tell what someone is feeling just by looking at them
The "carry on as normal" is the hardest part. This is why I hate any system with an in-built expected "default" amount of work you must do. The best case scenario in systems like that is spending huge amounts of time convincing abled people to let me consider myself disabled and rest
Old tech dilemma! Looking for ideas from Fedi.
I have this Logitech Pure-Fi Dream speaker dock. The power adapter died several years ago and I never worked out how to fix or replace it. The fixed (fully attached and moulded on, not possible to remove from the unit) power cable from the speakers has this unusual set of pins that go into the adapter.
The sound quality from these speakers is truly exceptional for its size, especially the bass. This is why I’ve kept it. I “upgraded” the iPod dock with a bluetooth adapter years ago and/or used an Aux cable until my newer iPhone ditched its headphone jack. (My beloved old iPod also properly died.) I would still connect it to a laptop or TV sometimes or use it to listen to the radio. It was brilliant until the power adapter kicked it. I’m hoping to give it a bit more life before I give up.
So, I need to fix or replace the power adapter. I will try opening the adapter and seeing if there is an obvious dust build up that miraculously fixes it (unlikely) but I won’t be able to do any more than that because I don’t have the electrical skills / knowledge to mess with a power adapter. I haven’t been successful in finding anywhere selling a replacement adapter either - admittedly, I don’t know where to look and don’t wish to buy something dodgy.
What would you do or recommend?
I’m in England, UK.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I have a disability affecting my mobility and health that makes attending Repair Cafes impossible right now. Wish I could but I can’t and there is noone who can do this for me. So I’m looking for things I can do myself at home first. I’m a techie and LOVE taking things apart but I don’t know what I’m doing! 😅 So a step by step beginner’s guide would be amazing.

Abled people intimately understand the usage of tools, it is a defining feature of human life. These people are not oppressive because they do not understand us, they are oppressive because they do not see us as human. This isn't something that can be debated away

KRCR: Three Mount Shasta climbers rescued after relying on AI to plan climb. “The USFS said the climbers told them they had used an artificial intelligence platform, YouTube videos and AllTrails to plan the trip. They said they relied on AI to decide what food to bring and how much food and water they would need. The group said it packed supplies for an eight-hour climb, not its roughly 16-hour […]

A very standard bowl of noodles, but that's what ranking lists thrive on.
you know how in tng you see the transporter effect linger more around the torso
you know how jpeg compression uses less cosine transforms where there is less data
what if transporter compression really fucks up your limbs where there's less "data" as in tissue complexity than where there's a bunch of organs
