@LottieVixen@dev.glitch.social @lizardsquid And I was thinking I might be taking too much of your attention already.

If you're looking for attention though (either of you) I'd be happy to oblige.

casual thoughts, an epiphany about leninism/stalinism

@lizardsquid I don't know anything about this sort of thing, but I feel like if you want the people to be in charge you'd have to cut out as much bullshit as possible and make the threshold for voicing one's political opinion as low as you can.

@lizardsquid I had an idea this morning of a mech wearing giant versions of those colourful rubber rain boots for kids as they're walking around, just so the operator doesn't have to scrape mud out of the mech's feet afterwards.

@lizardsquid Well, I don't know. It seems you're handling it pretty well, but if you're in distress or something because of it you know where to find me.

@lizardsquid Well, extra faces around there are always welcome. I doubt you have much of a problem abiding by rule 1.

@lizardsquid Good morning!

You're slimey at the moment? should I be worried?

@lizardsquid I've seen that (about xkeeper.dreamwidth.org/9872.ht , right?)

Have you also seen the one about Jul? I don't know if it's what you're looking for in a forum, but I'm not sure how feasible it is to start a new one.

I'm wondering how much difficulty is caused in AI research because with social media experiments it's impossible to tell a malfunctioning AI from one that's shitposting.

@Xkeeper @Wayves The talking about this has been happening on at probably three places. (Mastodon, Twitter, Dreamwidth comments)
Some of the stuff that's been said might not be visible due to privacy settings, and further there's little possible interaction between people on different sites.

These places indeed don't work well for discussions.

Maybe it's partly because sites seem to encourage x-posting nowadays, but then the article mentions a bunch of places to go for what was one community.

@lizardsquid Otherwise, and I don't know if this is something that forums back then were much better at, social communities nowadays sometimes just drop dead arbitrarily. I don't really want to lose contact with people like that.

@lizardsquid If there's one thing I don't like about here is the temporary nature of stuff here. For example I'd like for the thing I wrote yesterday to be kept somewhere despite it being mostly private. I don't think I've made particularly insightful comments here, but I don't like losing it.

I probably won't even read most of this stuff again, but I'd just like to be able to find it. This infinite-scroll stuff is the worst of both: permanent yet impossible to efficiently search through.

@lighttrax The whole brand of the XBOX was to put Xes everywhere, preferably in circles. They've done that in a bunch of places, EXCEPT the close buttons on the windows, which is the only place people expect to find an X.

How did they not notice? Someone must have gotten fired over that.

@lizardsquid Paging you, since you were talking about forums a bit earlier.

@tiden@awoo.space Maybe I missed it, but how did your Tiden model end up?

Joke (attempted):

I'm doing reckless stunts driving this car. Don't stand in the way or you might get hurt if my drift catches you.
