I've been active myself for a few months, and have found it to be an absolutely delightful experience. While there are plenty of Not So Great folks lurking around, they're usually knocked off of the big instances pretty quickly - and instances that keep them around tend to get blocked by most places.

(I'm a big fan of tabletop games myself, though mostly things like Dominion/Gloomhaven)
