and/or the influx has caused technical issues in a few places due to extreme increases in traffic and such

(in addition to people just messing around)

established instances tend to be pretty reliable, however technical or social issues can arise that might prompt people to want/need to move around

I’ve only been around for around six months myself, but I haven’t moved once... and haven’t had to refollow that many people on my list due to them having migrated somewhere
