Alright, tonight I'm starting on the post-bump Ys games, with Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim! What does that mean? Who knows! Let's play and find out.

A friend of mine who teaches elementary school, taught her class, “don’t yuck my yum”

It was like a class mantra, all the kids knew and understood the phrase. So, if a kid brought a bean burrito for lunch, and another kid said “gross! I hate beans” burrito-kid could just say “don’t yuck my yum”

It became the perfect phrase when one student liked something another student hated it. Quickly, it moved from the tangible (food, smells, textures) to the intangible (music, religion, quality)

By the end of the year “don’t tuck my yum” was woven into the culture of the class. They actually used the phrase LESS by then, because yuckers would check themselves before tearing anyone down.

And that class of second graders moved to third, secure in the knowledge that it’s ok to love the things you love, even if other people don’t.

The fairies encircled the crib, gazing down at the sleeping infant.

"Well, beauty is subjective," said the first.

"And you don't want to body-shame."

"A clear voice then?"

"And confidence."

"But also humility."

"Kindness is always good."

"Tempered with the will to not be walked all over."

"Cavalier attitude towards gender?"

"Why not? This is a modern child, after all."

"And also the ability to avoid social media."

People around me are shocked that medics got beaten for trying to treat that fascist that was killed in Portland a few nights ago.

That just tells me they weren't really listening through our friendship when I would share the stories of police doing similar shit to me. I've got a scar under my eye that's pretty prominent, and it's from having my eyesocket smashed by a baton after getting tackled trying to treat an elderly lady who'd been hit with a rubber bullet...

...back in 2012.

I guess, if you're shocked at the violence you're hearing about: check yourself, and check on your friends: it's probably not novel to all of them, and they're probably hurting from folk acting like the violence against them never happened.
