there have been more times where someone i have come out to thought i was a transfemme than times where people understood that i'm a trans man. a large portion of society doesn't even know trans men exist. at all. talk about trans men, add "trans men are men" in situations where it is appropriate, let people know trans men exist because we deserve to be seen

it's not that you don't know how to explain this to your kids, it's that you're unsure how to explain it in a way so that they'll maintain the same prejudices as you.
