By extension from the RIAA's logic in taking down youtube-dl, they could also take down browsers, curl/wget, compilers and interpreters, systemd, anything electron...
The list goes on.
What they did is evil, and we had this same fight in the late 00s when they DID try to force browsers to implement controls to prevent downloading copyrighted content. That eventually ended in Widevine et al.
For this? The same path would end in Widevine in the OS.
