Twitch, the recently banned words, "SJW" rhetoric

The great thing about Twitch picking 3 words that imply a lack of (toxic) masculinity as an insult and banning them is even though this does nothing to protect actually marginalized people from harassment on the platform and no one actually wanted this, people are blaming "The SJWs" anyway.

It's an effective and deliberate 1-2 punch of turning Twitch communities more marketable for majority audiences while shifting the blame for the move to non-majority groups.

Cyberpunk 2077, discussion of its 'yikes', racism, long

More and more discreet dogwhistles and references to not-great things keep bubbling up in Cyberpunk 2077's lore and the discourse is the same as always: "The devs are MOCKING these things, not supporting them!" except there's... no mockery. There's just references.

And I feel like if you're gonna include references to things like racist bullshit reports on crime among PoC, you need to go out of your way to showcase in the same lore 'box' that it's a load of shite. Just going "Haha I'm gonna repeat this sentence in a slightly different context" isn't mockery, isn't commentary. You're just repeating the statistic and going "Hey anyone remember this?"

At best you're a coward trying to cash in on the intrigue without saying anything of substance.

This isn't the only example. People have come to CDPR's defense in this manner over basically everything problematic the game showcases, and each time I'm left asking where the commentary is.

You know what they call repeating a platform talking point without its accompanying commentary and criticism? Promotion.

I was thinking about the word cyberwitch and how it can mesh really well with Pratchett witches : no matter how powerful a magic you can wield, most of the time what is gonna help people is mundane stuff.

You ever think about how corporations took all the social rules of decorum and interpersonal politeness and went "How can we twist these to our benefit by constantly claiming to our employees and customers that our corpoation is a 'person' deserving of these concessions?"?

Birdsite is a war between people who want anyone talking about newest-media-shitshow to use unambiguous terms they can mute, and people who want to post about it without being tag-searched by toxic gamer assclowns.

Just a reminder that fedi is better with by-design limited functionality to search the entire space.
