@ShugoWah@snouts.online oh my god the last time I thought about ramdisks was back on an old 8086 I had. And finding out that you could make a ramdisk with dos.

I remember thinking "wait... why would I do that with just 640k of ram? What would be the point??" but... I haven't thought about ramdisks in DECADES.

NOWADAYS a ramdisk actually makes sense but because I learned about them way back before even 1 gb of ram was a thing, it never crossed my mind.

well, fans are still racing, but nowhere near what they were, and my CPU is peaking at 60 now. that... definitely seems to have fixed things for now at least

okay round two with Slime Rancher. let's see if cleaning out the fan and heatsink, cleaning off all the old thermal paste and the dust underneath it, and reseating it, has fixed things...?
