@monorail but I mean, it's also evident that Hayden literally figured out Pierce was fucking about, and literally stole the Doom marine and Praetor suit JUST IN CASE Pierce really did confirm his worst fears about her, and he knew Doomsy was the only one who could stop it all if it went bad.

BUT let's be real, he also is the head of a huge corporation and as much as he talks big talk about "betterment of mankind" he's also thinking "and of my wallet and status".

@monorail 5: Oh damn I just realised, Samuel seems really clued in on who the Doom Marine is, which stands to reason, he's been researching him a lot and he's got a computer brain too. So even without Doomsy replying, he KNOWS he's aware of the demonic invasion and KNOWS that he's probably pissed as all hell, and KNOWS that he's gotta be putting serious thought into "screw this place and this Hayden guy, I'mma gut him for this shit when I find him". So tries damage control.

@monorail I know, I liked it a lot, and I giggled. I wish it could be real. Very lost doom marine whomst doesn't speak a word of english or understand what he's doing but is just super lucky. like what if he was accidentally this badass hero, not really meaning to be?

@monorail 3: he rubs his thumb across the Doom Slayer mark on his helmet, hesitates slightly, before putting it on. Some have said this is "familiarity" but really it looks way more like "the fuck's that doing on there? ... not coming off? Ah well, not like it can stop me anyway."
4: as much as I like the idea you had of him just randomly putzing about, sadly he's far too familiar with tech and guns for him not to understand at all ^^; his hands move like he's USED to the systems.

@monorail Oh dang I just rewatched the intro scenes and .. there's several things I missed before.
1: The pentagram on the marine's right palm that you see fora split second before he clenches his fist to pull at the chains binding him.
2: As Samuel Hayden is first talking to him, he's probably just going to ignore him and push the screen aside but when he says "benefits us both" he's visibly angered and immediately shifts his grip to THROW the screen away.

@monorail I mean the game is a masterclass in body language. You get SO MUCH EMOTION and just... so much character establishment in that opening segment where Samuel Hayden is like "everything we did was for the betterment of mankind!" and the Doom Marine just... LOOKS at the corpse in the elevator, and you can SEE the fury as he cracks his knuckles, then punches the damn speaker. just... FUCK that's good direction.

@monorail Also yeah that bit with backing up Vega, OF HIS OWN VOLITION, WITHOUT BEING ASKED OR TOLD, considering how much other stuff he just trashed is just... ;w; <3 <3 <3

@monorail honestly Doom 2016 is one of the few games where "Silent Protagonist" actually genuinely works and doesn't just feel like a concession for gameplay reasons.
