@Siphonay@octodon.social I SLIGHTLY feel bad for the guy because apparently he was immediately panicked and tripping over himself trying to say he wasn't involved he was just calling from a company and he didn't know him at all, but at the same time fuck scammers entirely and fuck the "companies" behind them especially.

@Siphonay@octodon.social it's pretty dark, but Miq's stepdad once got one of these guys pretty good when he was alive. (he passed v. recently, early this year)

One of those scammers called through and he picked up, let the guy go with his usual spiel then claimed to be a police officer, and that "Mr [his own name] has been murdered and I am conducting an investigation", sounding very official, and requesting he give information because he might need to be investigated.

Fucker hung up without a word the moment I repeated back to him what he was implying, then called him out on his bullshit and told him in no uncertain terms that I knew he was lying, it was a scam, and told them never to call here again.

How do people live with themselves doing this job? jfc.

Gooodd lord you gotta love scam calls. "Hello I'm from BT and I'm calling to let you know that your computer operating system has been compromised and it's affecting our main servers"

I know why people fall for this. It's scary sounding, if you aren't at all clued in on some of the more technical aspects of how the internet works (sure it's easy to look up but not everyone has that knowledge or time to do so). It makes me angry that people prey on folks like this though.

welp completed SS2. That was cool. genuinely kinda creepy. Had a good time. The cyberspace bit at the end was... very wtf.

So was the ending tbh. But it was pretty cool! Can't believe there's actually gonna be a System Shock 3 potentially after all this time too o_O

Misty has come for cuddles and she's being exceptionally cuddly, which is very unusual for her with me. However she's got a habit of flopping in the most inopportune places and getting grumpy when I have to inevitably move her ^^;
