...I'm... I'm not the only one who wants to see this video but set to REALLY, REALLY SLOWED DOWN music from Initial D right????

I'm pretty sure Piers was like "y'ever just meet someone and like, instantly dislike them but you can't put your finger on exactly why, then they do something shitty and you're like I FUCKIN KNEW IT"

Rose pretty much comes across as the "wow why don't poor people jsut stop being poor it's so easy!" kinda guy. "Well Meaning" but so bafflingly incompetent at realising his priveledge and status is insulating him from reality that he genuinely thinks he's helpful and people are just "Not Getting It(tm)".
So yeah... I bet it was super fucking vindicating for Piers when Rose [s]gathered the power gems to unleash the Destructor, Golden Silver[/s]freed Eternatus.

and like, it was already basically thrown by the wayside by the fact there's no powerspot there because i guess nobody wants to see championship pokemon battles unless there's a kaiju fight or some shit. so if the gym wasn't even anywhere near Spikemuth, NOBODY would ever go there, no business, no income, no revenue, no economy, pretty soon it would be a ghosttown. And Piers is having none of that. Rose of course doesn't get it because he's Peak Techbro.

basically, Spikemuth has no Power Spot under it, meaning that nobody can dynamax there, because I guess the power spots allow pokemon to dynamax or some guff. But yeah, so Rose said "aw what a shame, but that's okay! We can move your gym to somewhere iwht a powerspot! say like... ohhh, i dunno, this place all the way out in the middle of nowhere!"
and Piers was like "nah fuck off mate not happening staying right here in my town." because dammit it's his town.

So yeah Piers is great because like, he's super reserved and looks like he constantly needs a nap, but like, once he gets behind the mic he's just... massively fuckin' amped up and that energy is just... wild.
also I love how he refuses to dynamax his pokemon even if he's in an area that he can. Just straight up "fuck that noise I ain' doin' it"
It's also stated he does NOT like Chairman Rose. You never find out WHY exactly but...
Naoya Matsuoka (1937-2014) is the outrun jazz fusion you've been looking for:

according to an incredibly comprehensive Outrun/Sega AM2 blog Matsuoka's oeuvre literally inspired Outrun's music:

(seriously, click around this blog, a decade+ of fantastic research awaits)
got there via the blogger commenting on this also-interesting Eurogamer article about artifacts discovered while moving Sega's longtime HQ:

very very amused that this advertising stunt got sabotaged by enterprisng folks who saw all that high end tech being wasted on marketing gimmicks and knew they could put it to far better use.
Like the one done by a norweigan softdrinks company, which was outfitted with all sorts of gps tracking and radar and identification gubbings, lots of high end tech inside the giant soft drink bottle...
...which had its electronics stolen by pirates before it finished its five month journey
i am now reading the wiki article on messages in bottles and... i gotta tell you
some of these entries are... kinda wild. i mean the vast majority are literally either professional or amateur scientists doing it out of curiousity or research, or just average folks going "hey this might be fun, let's toss this message out there, see who reads it, maybe it'll never be found i dunno!" Some are genuinely sad and tragic. A couple are hilarious though
yeah i'm moving over to chitter.xyz now. Soooo go there! I'm there now.
