Now that I've gone through my closet I wanna hook up my Commodore 64, though I'll have to find the power cables.

Shouldn't be hard to find, they're ginormous. :p

@XerTheSquirrel I kinda want one though I realize they're also $$$$$. Aside from my Commodore 64 I've got a TRS-80 Coco. I haven't really found a great use for either, but that's probably due to me not getting an adapter to load programs on from a computer yet.

@NovaSquirrel Cool! The Amiga took me awhile to get, I plan on loading my own software into it eventually! If you are willing to pay for shipping in some cases you can get one, otherwise it is a long waiting game if you want a good price.

@XerTheSquirrel Yeah running your own software on it is probably the most interesting thing you could do, and I'd feel way more confident releasing something I wrote to the world if I can verify it works on the real thing, too.

@NovaSquirrel I used my own power brick that I soldered to a cut off Amiga connector, since I did not have a plug for the power supply and also it was really old.

@NovaSquirrel
If you want to increase the longevity of your your C64/C128 I'd recommend getting modern power supply (you'll need to provide both 9v and 5v) and splicing the connector.

The old Commodore power supplies are poorly built and when they die they can take crucial parts of your system (the SID chip in particular) to a their grave.

@NovaSquirrel
I know that seems like a really annoying thing to do if you are just going to casually dig it out every once in a while, but think about your children and your children's children. ;p

@jeffalyanak I heard they're very inefficient and get very hot.

I don't intend on having kids but I'm still all for preserving retro hardware. In retro game communities I'm always condemning wrong-voltage parts and such.
