If you want to increase the longevity of your your C64/C128 I'd recommend getting modern power supply (you'll need to provide both 9v and 5v) and splicing the connector.
The old Commodore power supplies are poorly built and when they die they can take crucial parts of your system (the SID chip in particular) to a their grave.
@jeffalyanak I heard they're very inefficient and get very hot.
I don't intend on having kids but I'm still all for preserving retro hardware. In retro game communities I'm always condemning wrong-voltage parts and such.
