light was bleeding round doors in my game and no amount of fiddling with individual light positions and parameters could fix it so i just spent 4 days making it so lights turn off in rooms the player can't see,

today in : turns out that in unity, when an animator is transitioning between states, it's actually in both states at once

this is noted absolutely nowhere in the documentation and took me a whole day to figure out what was going on

good: i made pak choi & rice in hoisin sauce for the first time and it came out p. good
bad: i had to cook enough for 7 people and the stress led to me yelling at my housemates

cooking tip: don't de-seed chilis by running ur thumb thru em, its been almost 2 hours and my thumbs still hurt

in other news im refactoring a load of code on my current unity project and damn it feels good to not have code reaching several gameobjects deep just to lock doors, select exits, etc

i really shouldn't have been assigned to the examples classes, im far better at programming logic than i am at doing maths stuff and this is ALL maths

may have found an answer to my light bleeding issues in the form of invisible objects that cast shadows, its hacky but that's just what working in unity is about i guess

i think a lot of the problem is that i'm generating stuff procedurally so i can't really do baked light, and unity's point lights kinda suck in real time so they keep bleeding around doors
